Description:

A bill for an act to amend and reenact subsection 1 of section 29‑29.4‑05 of the North Dakota Century Code, relating to prohibited uses for unmanned aerial vehicles.

ACLU position:

The ACLU of North Dakota supports this bill. North Dakotans should not have to choose between using new technologies and protecting their civil liberties. Drones have many beneficial uses, including in search-and-rescue missions, scientific research, mapping, and more. But deployed without proper regulation, drones equipped with facial recognition software, infrared technology, and speakers capable of monitoring personal conversations would cause unprecedented invasions of our privacy rights.
