Bio

A good story isn’t complete without the basics – the who, what, when, where, why, and how. But to Janna Farley – a writer and communications pro – the most interesting has always been the who. No matter what the story, there is always an interesting human element to explore.

As communications director for the ACLU, Janna ensures that those stories get told to the right audience at the right time. She oversees the communications program for the ACLU of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming chapter and is responsible for developing communications strategies that help promote the ACLU’s mission to protect and advance civil liberties in the three states. These strategies include print and online communications, social media, media outreach, brand management, and provocative storytelling.

Prior to joining the ACLU in 2018, Janna worked in journalism, advertising, and public relations. A South Dakota native, she is a graduate of the University of South Dakota.
