FARGO, ND - Voters in North Dakota have rejected a ballot measure, Measure 1, which would have banned abortion and possibly other medical procedures such as in vitro fertilization.

Below find a quote from Heather Smith, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of North Dakota:

"North Dakota voters followed in the footsteps of thousands of other voters tonight, clearly telling extremists that theyre not interested in out-of-touch attempts to ban abortion and other health care. Over and over again, when its put to the people, voters choose to support a womans ability to make personal, private decisions about abortion without political interference. Politicians would do well take a cue from their constituents and stop trying to restrict access to abortion."
